The director of Tourism of the capital City Council, Claudia Lorena Peralta Antiga, set an example and donated her hair when starting a campaign between that agency and the Municipal DIF for the production of oncological wigs; He warned that there are those who profit from braids, so it is best to take them directly to either department.

“We have learned that There are those who profit from braids, and sell them when one thinks they are using them to make ontological wigs.…”, he explained.

In this campaign, the offices of Municipal Tourism (in the Municipal Palace, Historic Center) are open to receive braids – the haircut is not done there -, or at the DIF, in Xicoténcatl 1650, Colonia Anthem Nacional where the haircut is done, not an aesthetic cut, only the braid.

For the production of an oncological wig, however, approximately 450 grams of hair are required; So far this year, the institution has received 67 braids and delivered 14 oncological wigs.

To donate it, it doesn’t matter if the hair is dyed or gray, but It should not be bleached, and it should be a braid between 30 and 35 centimeters long.

According to reports from the Municipal DIF, It is a single woman who makes the oncological wigs; Although an attempt was made to establish contact, it was alleged that he preferred anonymity because he carried out this work because a family member suffered from cancer and survived, and therefore decided to contribute to improving or trying to improve the quality of life of other people who suffer from it. .

However, their craftsmanship does not compare with that of any company dedicated to the production of professional wigs: Strip by strip the hair is sewn onto the hat -so detailed that the seams should not be seen-, and once ready they are combed and cut; They can be washed and even cut according to the owner’s taste.

Peralta Antiga says that, along with the braid, We must try to send “all the good vibes and all the intention in the hair so that it serves an oncology patient, with many blessings and wishes for health.”.

He explained that “hair braids have deep spiritual meanings in various cultures around the world; from spiritual protection to connection with the divine…”.

He added that braids in hair are more than just a hairstyle. “They are a way of expressing spirituality and the connection with the transcendent.”

In addition, A wig helps women and girls who lose their hair due to chemotherapy to have greater confidence.and they are mainly girls on the waiting list to receive a wig.

People affected by the aforementioned disease and even another that leads to hair lossthey can register as beneficiaries of wigs at the Municipal DIF facilities in the volunteer area, where they can also request to be taken into account to receive breast prostheses if they require them.
