A serious humanitarian crisis has been denounced by human rights organizations in the rural area of Remedios, Northeast of Antioquia, due to combats between criminal structures.

The situation has been reported for several days now, indicating that there is an alliance between the ELN and the FARC dissidents to combat the ‘Gulf Clan’ in an armed conflict that has already left several dead.

This was reported by the Humanitarian Action Corporation for Coexistence and Peace of Northeast Antioquia (Cahucopana Nordeste), which on social networks has launched a call for help for the authorities to reach the area, as they fear repercussions against the community.

“Around the Plaza Nueva sidewalk there are an undetermined number of dead armed actors, lying on the roads and in the community field. We insist, no entity of the National Government has managed to carry out the removal of the bodies,” the entity denounced.

We call on the Army and the Police – who are aware of the fighting – to decisively confront these expressions of violence and protect the civilian population.
