The Argentine National Team will face Chile next Tuesday for the second date of Group A of the Copa América 2024. The match against Canada had been left behind, where the Albiceleste won 2-0 with goals from Julián Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez, although there was a reason that caused the match to be talked about again in the last few hours.
Conmebol warned the National Team for improper behavior in the match against the Canadians. He did it through the Disciplinary Commission and the reason was for delay in entering the playing field for the second half at the Mercedes Benz Stadium. Those led by Lionel Scaloni took almost 18 minutes to return from the locker room.
If the behavior is repeated, there could be a financial penalty. What happened went unnoticed by the Argentine fans but not by the Canadian protagonists: Jesse March, Canada’s coach, had complained about Argentina’s delay in taking the field.
“When they were slow, I knew they were watching the video and analyzing how they wanted to play against us. I wish the referees could manage that. If we arrived five minutes late, we would have a fine and there would be a big problem“March questioned at a press conference.
The possible formation of Argentina vs. Chili
Scaloni plans to repeat almost all the names that performed against Canada, with the exception of two doubts: Emiliano Martínez; Nahuel Molina, Cristian Romero, Lisandro Martínez, Nicolás Tagliafico or Marcos Acuña; Rodrigo De Paul, Leandro Paredes or Enzo Fernández, Alexis Mac Allister; Lionel Messi, Julián Álvarez and Ángel Di María.
