CGT Nacional ignored the CGT La Rioja board of directors and there are expectations for the call for elections
There are expectations for the arrival of the Coordinator of the Secretariat of the Interior of the National CGT, Horacio Otero so that the confederation goes to an election.
“There is a decision of the national Board of Directors of the CGT signed by the 3 general secretaries (Pablo Moyano, Héctor Daer and Carlos Acuña) where they ignore the regional election of the province of La Rioja where a group of unions carried out outside the regulations of the CGT and the regional statutes”explained Daniel Mercado, representative of UPCN and the Workers’ CGT.
In this way, the National CGT does not endorse the plenary session where it consecrated Reynoso as head of a supposedly unified CGT in the province and expectations grow for a call for an election for the formation of a regional CGT in La Rioja.
“We are going to propose that an election be held accordingly and as established by the statutes”; Mercado stated. To do this, the union members will wait for the arrival of the Coordinator of the Secretariat of the Interior of the National CGT, Horacio Otero, to guarantee the process of an election.
“Our union was not called to that election from UPCN, we found out the day after the election,” Mercado denounced about the process carried out by the CGT Triunvirato and San Martín. Textile unions and the UOCRA, among others, were also not present.
In this sense and looking to the future, Daniel Mercado expressed “La Rioja needs the unity of the CGT in an orderly and transparent manner. “What happened hurts unionism and we seek to ensure that things are done in a transparent manner and with the participation of all unions.” and pointed “The workers are tired of these maneuvers that are carried out between midnight and midnight.”
