Two Argentine tennis players have already secured their place in the quarterfinals of the Santa Fe Challenger, which is held at the Lawn Tennis in the provincial capital. These are Andrea Collarini and Lautaro Midon, who this Wednesday won their respective round of 16 duels.

Collarini, born in the United States but representing Argentina, defeated Juan Bautista Torres from Buenos Aires 6-3, 6-1 and in the next round he will face Brazilian Matheus Pucinelli de Almeida.

Pucinelli de Almeida left behind none other than the first seed of the tournament, the Bolivian Hugo Dellién. The former 64th in the ranking had to retire when he lost 5-2 since a few games before he had received a ball in one of his eyes. Despite having received medical attention, the current 168th was unable to continue the game.

Midon, for his part, clearly beat Brazilian Nicolás Zanellato by double 6-2 and will seek the semifinals against the American Ulises Blanch, who eliminated fellow Brazilian Pedro Boscardin Días by double 6-4.

The other two quarterfinal matches will be decided this Wednesday.

The AAT Challenger Santander Santa Fe edition awards 50 ATP points to the champion and distributes U$D 50,000 in prizes. This is the fourth tournament of this type organized by the Argentine Tennis Association so far this year, after two events in Buenos Aires and the remaining one in Tucumán.
