According to Internet usage data in March, the last month of the first quarter of this year, Tierra del Fuego was one of the provinces in the country where fixed internet use grew the most.

According to the report that was released by INDEC, with the latest data updated to the first quarter of 2024, in the province, a total of 176,439 internet accesses were registered in March, which represented an increase of 1.1%.

The type of fixed access totaled 15,326, an increase of 10.7% compared to the same month last year, while mobile access was 161,113, which represented an improvement of 0.3%.

Of the 176,439 internet accesses that were registered in March in the Fuegian jurisdiction, 165,874 corresponded to residential use, showing a growth of 1.3% year-on-year; while use by organizations was 10,565 accesses, a drop of 1.7% year-on-year.

In January, February and March 2024, for the total panel of companies surveyed in the survey, 175,135, 174,838 and 176,439 thousand internet accesses were registered, respectively. There were increases of 0.6% in February and 1.1% in March, compared to the same month of the previous year; while in January there was no variation.

In March, fixed internet accesses increased 2.6% compared to the same month of the previous year. The province that showed the greatest year-on-year growth in the number of fixed accesses was Mendoza (16.2%), followed by Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and the South Atlantic Islands (10.7%). On the other hand, the provinces with the most significant reductions in the number of fixed accesses were Catamarca (13.5%) and Misiones (8.7%).

For mobile internet access, in March 2024, an increase of 3.0% was observed compared to March 2023. The provinces with the highest year-on-year growth were Salta (5.8%), Corrientes and Formosa (both with 5.0%). 0%); while the only province that registered a reduction was San Juan (0.2%).

Country situation

The INDEC report details that in the entire country; In the first quarter of 2024, on average, 8,172,710 fixed internet accesses were registered. This meant an increase of 2.6% compared to the first quarter of 2023. On the other hand, residential fixed accesses grew 2.4%, for a total of 7,747,042; and fixed accesses from organizations totaled 425,668, with an increase of 7.2%.

Regarding mobile internet accesses, in the quarter under analysis, an average of 37,931,302 accesses were recorded, which implied an increase of 2.5% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Residential mobile accesses had a positive variation of 2.5% and reached 34,130,523; and those corresponding to organizations totaled 3,800,779 and grew 2.9%.
