JEP summons 4 former governors of Nariño to give their version of glyphosate spraying on crops for illicit use

“As part of the judicial investigation process, the Truth Recognition Chamber has identified more than 400 serious and representative acts allegedly committed by State agents members of the Public Force, of which, 98 were executed within the framework of the implementation of the strategy of forced eradication of crops for illicit use, through aerial spraying with glyphosate,” explained the JEP on June 6.

These accusations came to light after the reports presented by indigenous organizations, victims, peasants and files which also document serious and disproportionate damage to the civilian population, their real estate and nature.

“Specifically, they state that direct damage was caused to people’s health and serious environmental impacts, including the destruction of bread cropsmedicinal plants and pollution of rivers and streams,” the entity added in its statement.
