In Yopal, a Regional Security Council was held where the leaders of Boyacá, Casanare and Arauca met with Iván Velásquez, Minister of Defense and police and national army authorities where the situation that is occurring in the three departments was analyzed, and Measures were taken to strengthen security in the territories.

In the meeting, which lasted around five hours, César Augusto Ortiz, governor of Casanare, Renson Jesús Martínez, governor of Arauca, and Carlos Andrés Amaya, governor of Boyacá, expressed their concerns and early warnings that exist.

At the end of the security council, Iván Velásquez, through the Ministry of Defense’s social networks, indicated the agreements: in the three departments the need was found to increase the presence of members of the Police and the National Army, in the face of this urgency, The minister explained that the so-called ‘16,000 plan’ will be implemented in the Army, through this, there will be 11,000 new professional soldiers this year, 4,500 next year and 500 remaining in 2026.”

There will also be a similar strategy in the National Police, “in that case there will be 20,000 women and men trained at the highest level, this deployment of new uniformed personnel will progressively strengthen the security and capabilities of each of the institutions,” the Ministry assured. of Defense on their social networks

Likewise, the issue of extortion in the country’s prisons was addressed. It is becoming one of the most recurrent problems today. Regarding the issue, the minister and the governors committed to organizing new operations with Inpec to warn who are responsible and leave them with no room for maneuver.

Another of the issues addressed was the presence of the National Navy so that they can patrol rivers with new boats that can control river routes and prevent criminal groups from taking control of those areas.

Carlos Amaya, governor of Boyacá, thanked the presence of the minister of defense and the commanders of the military forces, the national army and deputy director general of the national police, and explained the agreements “this shows that we are giving all the importance to the situation of our border municipalities, hand in hand with the national government, the governors and mayors of the three departments, we will work with the public force to strengthen the Gaulas, both military and police, and the implementation of ‘Operation Domino’ with the INPE, to confront extortion.”

The leader of the Boyacenses explained that the force and vehicles for Police mobility in prioritized municipalities will be increased, and military operations will also be increased in the northern area of ​​Boyacá, the border area with Casanare and Arauca.

Amaya Rodríguez indicated that, with the National Protection Unit, the requests made by the mayors will be reviewed to increase protection measures in municipalities such as Pisba, Chita, Paya, Labranzagrande, among others.

Finally, the Government of Boyacá assured that in the coming weeks new regional security councils will be put forward in Boyacá and Arauca, to follow up on the commitments.
