The mayor of Pitalito, Yider Luna, has urgently requested help from the departmental and national government to confront the growing wave of crime in the municipality, after a recent incident that claimed the life of a citizen.

We definitely cannot do it alone, a municipality without resources for investment, without a prison to hold criminals. We urgently need support from the departmental government headed by Governor Rodrigo Villalba Mosquera to confront crime and the wave of insecurity, a reform of justice and support from President Gustavo Petro. We have already presented the security system project for Pitalito (closed camera system),” commented Mayor Luna.

The president also addressed the Minister of the Interior, Luis Fernando Velasco, highlighting the need for cooperation and support to improve security in the municipality. “We already presented the construction project of the 5th Police District and the legalization of the CAI. The coordination of everyone is necessary to improve security with investment in all areas: social, technology, education and support for public forces,” he stated.
