As part of the preparatory process for the III Conference of the National Union of Hotel and Tourism Workers, the Louvre Hotel, in Athens, Cuba, hosted the conference corresponding to the Municipal Bureau of this union in Matanzas.
Julio Enrique Morales Verea, general secretary of the organization, called for improving the grassroots union structures and their functioning to guarantee the effective participation of workers in economic management.
The conference, which led to the analysis of the main results and difficulties of the stage, was attended by authorities from the Party, the Cuban Workers’ Union and the Union in the territory.

During the conference, the Municipal Bureau of the Union was elected, while Nely Hernández Leonard was elected as its general secretary. (ALH)
