A total strike is coming at the UNSJ for 48 hours

This Friday it was confirmed at the national level that the university unions will carry out a new 48-hour strike, scheduled for next Tuesday June 11 and 12. This is due to the government’s lack of response to the claim for the drop in wages. In addition, they will join the CGT unions and mobilize in Congress for the debate on the Bases Law in Buenos Aires. In San Juan, the unions are also planning measures to join the demonstration against the package of laws promoted by the ruling party.

The owner, of ADICUS, Jaime Barcelonaconfirmed to Zonda Diary that the university teaching unions of the province of San Juan will join this measure. In addition, he highlighted that non-teaching unions have confirmed their adherence. Therefore the strike would be total in the National University of San Juan, UNSJ.

Part of the claims have to do with a 40% increase in salaries and the restitution of the Fund FONID for pre-university teachers. This is a fund that stopped being paid because the trusts that financed it ended in January of this year. In the particular case of San Juan, it was absorbed by the provincial government. However, teachers in secondary schools or pre-university institutes, as they belong to the National University of San Juanthey do not receive their salaries through the provincial government and do not receive it.

Furthermore, they ask that the salary guarantee for low charges, which consisted of a fixed sum paid by the National government for positions that were not enough to cover the basic basket.

In this context, the head of ADICUS, Jaime Barcelona, highlighted that the vast majority of associate and adjunct tenured positions are earning below the basic basket. Therefore, they would need this fund to be able to overcome it.

He also announced that next week there will be a manifestation in which university unions and other organizations will participate against the basic law. It will be coordinated on Monday, and it is not yet known what it will be like in the province of San Juan. However, they expect it to have a great turnout.
