Another historical theory about the origin of this date is the personal purpose of Sonora Smart Dodd, in 1909. This citizen sought to pay tribute to her father, a veteran of the Civil War, since he was left in charge of the children after the death of his wife, trying to fulfill the role of father and mother, hence the date originates in the United States.
It is said that as soon as the idea came out, it was proposed that the celebration take place on June 5, but it was not viable until 1924 when the president of the United States of that time supported the idea that it would be celebrated, but it would be on the third Sunday. of the same month.
