Faced with the forecasts issued by the Meteorological Directorate of Chile and after the last meeting of the Technical Table of the National Disaster Prevention and Response System (Sinapred), the authorities that make up the body decided to declare early warning in the Maule Regionprior to the start of the front system.

The director of the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred), Alicia Cebrian, indicated that the regions of the compromised section between Maule and Los Ríos will face a next frontal system. For this reason, “they keep their preventive early warnings in force” to reinforce surveillance of critical points and allow operational coordination to be established, along with the deployment of authorities in the territories that would be compromised by the meteorological event.

From the Meteorological Directorate of Chile (DMC), the entry of a second frontal system that would affect mid-week between Maule and Biobío, extending between Thursday and Friday to the regions between O’Higgins and Coquimbo. Regarding the zero isotherm, the DMC meteorologist, Arnaldo Zuñigapointed out that this “will be around 2,000 to 2,200 meters, situation considered within normal ranges“.

“As for temperatures, they are not decisive for this event. Instead, The wind will reach gusts between 50 km/h and 70 km/hespecially affecting coastal areasbetween Coquimbo and La Araucanía,” added Zuñiga.

Faced with this scenario, various weather warnings and alerts have been issued, mainly due to precipitation and wind in the central-southern regions of the country. In that sense, due to these forecasts, Senapred reiterated the call to people to Get informed through official channelsbe attentive to the weather forecast, “Do not expose yourself unnecessarily to risky situations and prepare to face these meteorological events.”
