The diligence carried out in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office allowed marijuana to be taken out of circulation, in addition to the seizure of a vehicle, cash and elements associated with the commission of this crime.
The accused, who was left subject to the precautionary measure of preventive detention, has 15 previous repetitions for various crimes.
Coyhaique.- Investigative proceedings carried out by Carabineros from the OS-7 Aysén Section culminated in the arrest of a subject for the crime of illicit drug trafficking in the city of Coyhaique.
Using techniques contemplated in Law 20,000, specialized Carabineros agents flagrantly detected an illegal drug transaction, carrying out an inspection.
The background of the procedure was reported to the local Prosecutor’s Office of this city, managing to obtain an order to enter and search a property, a procedure that was supported by specialized services made up of the GOPE, the 5th Public Order Control Police Station (COP) and the 1st Coyhaique Police Station, managing to obtain various evidence associated with the crime investigated.
Inside a property, Carabineros seized three bags containing 249.9 grams of marijuana, 149 thousand pesos in cash, as well as a vehicle and other items associated with the crime, which were seized.
The detainee was formalized for the crime of drug trafficking, being subject to the precautionary measure of preventive detention, with a period of 60 days being set for the closure of the investigation.
The subject registers 15 previous repetitions for various crimes among which stand out; four arrests for robbery, two for theft, two for threats, carrying a knife, opposing the action of public authority, injuries with a knife, carrying a prohibited weapon, among others.
It should be noted that, from January to June 2 of this year, the uniformed Institution has arrested 2,037 people in the region, of which 94 are for violation of the drug law (of these, 24% register arrests prior investigations by the Carabineros), achieving the seizure of 2.8 kg of prohibited substances, the same period in which – in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office – 11 raids have been carried out in the region.
Carabineros of the OS-7 Aysén reiterated the call to the community to anonymously and free of charge report matters related to this scourge to the drugs phone number 135, which is attended 24 hours a day and 365 days a year by specialized OS-7 agents. 7, allowing the initiation of investigative processes and referral of the antecedents to the Courts of Justice.
