Córdoba: “The ruling party says one thing in Buenos Aires and does the opposite in Córdoba” – WRITING – Córdoba

Provincial legislator Ariela Szpanin (UCR) expressed that Hacemos Unidos por Córdoba (HUxC) “says one thing in Buenos Aires and does the opposite in Córdoba.” The expressions of the radical legislator were made through a press release, after the Legislature rejected with the vote of the ruling party the treatment on tables of a project that instructed the national senators for Córdoba to “accompany with their affirmative vote the recomposition of retirements, approved by the Chamber of Deputies of the Nation on June 5, 2024.”

The initiative sought to shore up the half-sanction of the project in the lower house that modifies the formula for updating the retirement assets established by the national government. It should be remembered that the UCR is the promoter of this proposal. The national senators for Córdoba are Luis Juez (Frente Cívico, Pro block), Carmen Álvarez Rivero (Pro) and Alejandra Vigo (PJ, Hacemos Unidos por Córdoba).

Szpanin points out that “retirees and pensioners in Argentina are experiencing very delicate moments. They are a very punished, lagging sector that suffered the consequences of inflation. The project approved in Deputies establishes a monthly increase in pensions by CPI (Consumer Price Index). Additionally, in March of each year, a 50% increase in the salary variation (RIPTE) will be applied above the inflation of the previous calendar year. Also, the Executive Branch is obliged to pay retirees, for one time, a compensation of 8.1% to add to the 12.5% already granted by the Government through DNU, and in this way reach 20.6% of inflation recorded in January.”

Fourth quarter

He adds that “a guarantee is included for the minimum income: if the beneficiaries of a single pension benefit earn less than the equivalent of 1.09 total basic baskets (268,812 pesos each, in April values), they will access a supplement until they reach that amount.”

Telecom

Finally, he states that “86% of retirees and pensioners cannot cover the basic basket. That is why it is essential to focus on resolving this issue. It is urgent, imperious. It has to do with older adults, with the weakest. With those who deserve to live in better conditions.”
