Córdoba: A legislator requested reports on the vandalization of the “Casa de Hidráulica” Memorial site – ENREDACCIÓN – Córdoba

The provincial legislator, Walter Gispert (Frente Cívico), requested reports from the Executive Branch to know “what actions are being carried out to clarify what happened against the signage of the Site of Memory known as “Hydraulic House” and about the measures that “They are being implemented to replace damaged signage.”

The legislator from the Punilla department points out that the aggression and vandalization “do not constitute an isolated event, but are part of a framework that develops throughout the Nation, within the framework of denialist speeches and questioning all the years of struggle for Memory, Truth and Justice.”

The vandalization of the signage of this site of memory, located about 500 meters from the wall of the San Roque dam, had been reported days ago. Gispert remembers that a Clandestine Detention, Torture and Extermination Center operated in this space during the last civil-military dictatorship of 1976.

It also points out that “various Human Rights organizations such as: the Córdoba Provincial Memory Commission, the Space for the Memory and Promotion of Human Rights ex CCDTyE “La Perla”, the Space for Memory Defense and Promotion of Human Rights ex CCDTyE “Campo La Ribera” and the Provincial Memory Archive made public their repudiation of the events that occurred.”

HYDRAULICS HOUSE

The signage of the former Clandestine Detention Center Casa de Hidráulica – “El Embudo”, located on Route 38 and Route 55, 500 meters from the funnel and the wall of the San Roque Dam, was carried out in May 2010, according to the Provincial Commission of the Memory of Córdoba (CPMC).

The CPMC website indicates that “between 1976 and 1980 Casa Hidráulica was converted into a Clandestine Detention Center by D2 (Information Department of the Police of the Province of Córdoba). The so-called Chalet de Hidráulica was another of the CCDs that operated within the repressive circuit devised by the dictatorship. Unlike La Perla and La Ribera, it was run by the D-2 police officers.”

He adds that “the wide galleries of this colorful chalet, originally built as a meeting house for the board of directors of the Provincial Hydraulic Directorate in the 1940s, saw the most sadistic police officers of the province of Córdoba parade. In this true “bunker” they came to dismantle stolen cars, inflict all kinds of torture, murder and disappear.”
