The president of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Salvador Fuentes, highlighted this Tuesday the “pride” that Córdoba will host the 2024 Spanish Men’s Minibasket Club Championship, an event that will be held from June 23 to 29 and will be a meeting point for the best basketball players in the men’s minibasket category (11 and 12 years old) facing the best teams from 17 autonomous communities, plus Ceuta and Melilla.

During his speech, the president of the Provincial Council, who was accompanied by the Sports delegate in the institution, Antonio Martín; the delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Board, Eduardo Lucena, and the president of the Municipal Sports Institute of Córdoba (Imdeco), Marián Aguilar, among other authorities, have also expressed “the satisfaction of all the people of Córdoba for hosting this Championship of Spain Minibasket, which will turn Córdoba into the epicenter of the best national basketball and will bring together boys who will become leading figures in this sport.

Likewise, he took advantage of the occasion to convey the Provincial Council’s commitment to holding future editions in Córdoba and insisted that “we have to convey the values ​​associated with a sport like basketball, which differs from others in its way.” to understand sports practice”.

In total, there will be 32 teams from all over the country that will face each other, divided into eight groups of four teams each. To reach this point the teams have had to be provincial champions or runners-up and, in some cases, overcome regional championships in which a maximum of three teams could qualify.

The 32 qualified teams compete in the first phase divided into eight groups. In groups A, B, C and D, the three best classified teams advance to the next round. In groups E, F, G and H, only the first placed team advances to the round of 16. After the round of 16, the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will be played. There will be 66 games, 48 ​​in the group stage and 18 in the qualifiers that will be played at the Vista Alegre, Valdeolleros and La Salle facilities.

Córdoba will be represented with a team, RVG Distribuciones Ciudad de Córdoba, which achieved its place thanks to being provincial champion in the first place and then winning the Andalusian Club Championship after beating Unicaja.
