He university strike for 48 hours for this one Tuesday the 11th and Wednesday the 12th June began after the Federation of University Teachers (FEDUN) called for the union measure due to the lack of response from the National Government and the rejection of the Base Law.

This Tuesday the strike began, which will last two days and will have “the participation of the grassroots unions from all over the country to analyze the continuity of the fight plan that is being carried out.

In the statement accessed by Noticias Argentinas, it is reported that next Wednesday, June 12, in the morning there will be a mobilization in front of the National Congress “to express the absolute rejection of the Bases Law and demand that the senators vote in against”.

After the plenary session, the general secretary of the FEDUN, Daniel Ricci, declared: “More than a month has passed since the massive march in which all Argentinians expressed themselves in defense of the Public University and we still have not had any response.” of the government”.

“In recent times our salaries continue to deteriorate month by month, we have already lost more than 60 percent of purchasing power in the face of inflation and we are not going to continue tolerating this deterioration and lack of respect,” he exclaimed.

For this reason, Ricci pointed out that a 48-hour strike is called and, if there is no response, “we will deepen the fight plan and call for new force measures.”

The spokesperson confirmed: “So far there is no response to salaries, only a partial one regarding the university budget for operating expenses.”

Ricci explained that operating expenses “represent 10% of the budget and were the ones that had an increase, but obviously to maintain the public university it is not enough to pay for electricity and gas, but quality is mainly due to the work of university professors and until now we have not had any response.

In addition, he reported that on Friday there will be a plenary session of general secretaries to see the positive responses of the mobilization: “We will see what forceful measures continue to be taken forward.”

Finally, regarding whether any teacher will teach classes, Ricci responded: “We believe that the strike will be total.”
