The PSOE asks the president of the Córdoba Provincial Council to establish the Council of MayorsCORDOVA

The spokesperson socialist in theProvincial Council of Córdoba, Jose Antonio Romerohas demanded from the president of the Provincial Corporation, the popular Salvador Fuenteswhich constitutes “once and for all” the Council of Mayors to which got engaged in the last plenary session of the month of March and for which he requested a period of three months, a time that he fulfilled in 10 days.

In a media address at the Palacio de la Merced, Romero assured that it is an organ collected in the Regulations of the Provincial Council which should have been constituted three months after the start of the mandate, and which, furthermore, is a demand that all councilors have, regardless of the political color of their party. “Sources You must keep your word, “Since the motion we presented in March was passed unanimously, but it seems that the president of the Provincial Council is reluctant to convene this consultative dialogue body where the representatives of the municipalities can express the needs of their territories,” he noted.

Thus, he added that “we have had to pressure to force its constitution through a motion, and we showed our good will by agreeing to give a period of three months for it, and today we know absolutely nothing about it, not even “if it will go to plenary session on the 20th.”

All parties represented

Romero has urged Fuentes to launch the Council of Mayors, where in addition to the councilors they are present all political parties whether or not they have mayors and the Local Autonomous Entities (Elas). “Let’s hope they don’t laugh at our mayors anymore, because we have been in office for a year and we know nothing about a fundamental body, because in it we can talk about budgets, taxation, the infrastructure needs of the localities and the criteria of the different plans of the Corporation; that is, the reality of the municipalities of the province.”

To conclude, he has ordered Salvador Fuentes to ““Do not be afraid of participation and democracy,” and has reproached the PP for not having created this body during the time it has governed the supra-municipal entity “because it does not want more voices than that of the president of the Provincial Council.” Thus, the Council of Mayors was not in force between 2011 and 2015, under the previous PP government in the Provincial Council, while from 2015 to 2023 with the PSOE government it was active, with up to a dozen meetings throughout. throughout the mandate.
