The La Molineta municipal sports center is one of the main spaces in the investments of the municipal Budget for 2024. And it is also one of the modifications approved by the government group to incorporate more funds into the annual accounts from the remainder of … Treasury, that is, from municipal savings deposited in banks resulting from the surplus of previous years.
Among the modifications approved in the plenary session on May 15 alone by the popular government group, the sports center sees an increase in the amounts for several actions: the planned repair on the beach volleyball court for 13,000 euros will become a complete remodeling for 48,200 to expand the area from one to two lanes; the air conditioning of the municipal gym for 18,000; 7,540 euros will update the fronton elevator and 1,000 will improve the swimming pools.
Conversely, another of the actions adjusts and reduces the planned amount: the renovation of the football fields goes from 107,000 to 70,000 euros necessary after calculating 50,000 for the replacement of the artificial grass lighting with the LED system and 18,000 to write the project to change the natural grass field mat.
Given the doubts of the opposition about the deadlines, the mayor responds that they will try to “execute as much as possible”
These changes are added to the other investments initially contemplated in the investment chapter of the municipal Budget for the sports center for 950,950 euros: 114,950 for the renovation of the tennis courts, 91,500 to cover the paddle tennis courts, 50,000 to cover the children’s pool, 75,000 to once again fix the deterioration of the fronton floor and 484,000 to close track 2, fill the kart track, improve the Luis Fernández promenade and the changing rooms and showers of the social building (within the project financed with European funds).
Given all these actions in the sports center, the opposition groups, PSOE and IU- Podemos, have questioned the government group if it will have time to carry out these executions within this exercise that is already halfway through. “We will try to execute as much as possible,” responded the mayor, Yolanda Preciado, who highlighted the importance of residents’ money being invested instead of remaining in the banks.
