The Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta announced the installation of a PMU to articulate, supervise and take actions that allow guarantee the legitimate right to protest of the communities of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, as well as the rights of those who will not participate in the demonstration scheduled today.
On the other hand, the Government of Magdalena, convened an extraordinary security council to evaluate and monitor public order in the Sierra Nevada due to the presence of the Conquering Self-Defense Forces of the Sierra Nevada (ACSN) or Los Pachencas and the Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia or Clan del Golfo. Furthermore, due to the warning of intelligence reports and citizen complaints of a possible armed strike called by illegal structures.
Finally, the Santa Marta Metropolitan Police, denied the information circulating on social networks where a cessation of activities in the commercial sector is promoted in different neighborhoods and rural areas of the city of Santa Marta.
“Through social networks, unscrupulous people are visiting and publishing an audio with a distorted voice, and WhatsApp messages where a cessation of activities is being promoted with false information. Given the above, it is important to indicate that These types of messages have not been attributed to a criminal structure as such and would seek to generate misinformation and panic in the population,” the statement says.
