Caracol Radio and Grupo Prisa reject accusations made by Congressman Jota Pe Hernández to a journalist

Caracol Radio and the Prisa Group view with concern the constant attacks that the Green Party senator Jonathan Ferney Pulido Hernández, known as Jota Pe Hernández, has uttered or motivated through social networks, against our journalist Orlando Villar Forero, due to two publications journalistic reports made by this radio station. We consider that these attacks put the journalist’s physical integrity at serious risk and restrict his right to work.

In response to the senator’s publications, in which he mentions the name and photograph of the Caracol Radio journalist, through his social networks he has been receiving threats against his life and personal attacks, which constitutes, in addition to a risk to his safety, a form of of violence and intimidation.

That is why we ask the senator known as Jota Pe Hernández to stop these types of publications and we ask the Ombudsman’s Office, the Foundation for Press Freedom, and the Ethics Commission of the Senate of the Republic to be especially vigilant about this case. and to the Green Party Ethics Commission.

Caracol Radio supports the journalistic work carried out by Orlando Villar and is sure of the veracity and rigor with which the recent publications were made that mention Senator Hernández and his trip to El Salvador on the occasion of the inauguration of Nayib Bukele in the Presidency of that nation. However, in accordance with the law, the company is attentive to the development of the legal resources that the congressman announces, in relation to said publications.

Likewise, it keeps its channels open to publish the statements that the congressman wants to give in this regard, since in the development of this specific work he has been contacted, not once, but at least three times, by journalists from Caracol Radio.

Both for this case, and for others related to his legislative work, Colombians will be able to learn about the statements and opinions of Senator Jota Pe Hernández through Caracol Radio, as has happened on countless occasions in the recent past.

Cordially, Alfonso Ospina Torres, director of the Information Service
