The body, led by the regional presidential delegate, Sofía González Cortés, seeks to materialize actions that strengthen the territorial preventive strategy through intersectoral and local work.

Because the prevention of drug and alcohol consumption is a task that calls upon all of us, this morning the Steering and Technical Committee for the Prevention and Rehabilitation of consumption met, which seeks to deploy the SENDA Action Plan 2024-2030 in the territory. .

The objective of the instance led by the Regional Presidential Delegate of Valparaíso, Sofía González Cortés, was to initiate intersectoral work for the materialization of actions that contribute to strengthening the preventive strategy in the territory, contribute to the promotion of protective factors that prevent consumption in children , girls and adolescents, strengthen the regional treatment network and advance the social integration of those people with problematic substance use.

The regional presidential delegate pointed out that “the challenge we have set for ourselves is to transform this action plan into a specific plan for the Valparaíso region that brings together each of the sectors that are involved to face a problem that belongs to everyone. and that calls us to protect our children and adolescents. We understand that caring and protecting is a task of the State and that therefore requires an intersectoral and collaborative view that we build together.”

The regional director of SENDA Valparaíso, Carlos Colihuechún Brevis, emphasized the need to generate preventive actions that respond to the territorial reality and the requirements of the communities. “We have set ourselves the challenge that the actions that contribute to the comprehensive strategy in the territory must respond to the needs and requirements of the communities regarding consumption prevention. Carrying out actions that are in tune with people’s needs is essential to foster the adhesion and commitment that this important task requires,” he pointed out.

In this session of the Regional Steering and Technical Committee for prevention, the Seremi of Justice and Human Rights Paula Gutiérrez participated; the Seremi of Sports Leandro Torres; the Seremi of Labor and Social Security, Miguel Toledo; and technical professionals from the Seremis of Health, Education, Social Development and Family, and Women and Gender Equality. The regional committee is also made up of the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Playa Ancha, Luzmarina Silva, the only university that is part of this valuable work space.

At the end of the session, the Minister of Justice and Human Rights of the Valparaíso region, Paula Gutiérrez, stated that “this Action Plan undoubtedly fosters a more collaborative and community relationship. Part of the challenges we have in the sector lies in the youth social reintegration policy and how we ensure that the context of confinement allows for more effective treatments to prevent consumption, and of course from the perspective of children and adolescents, through the “My Lawyer program, work to prevent children and adolescents from having problematic drug use.”

On the occasion, the Seremi of Sports, Leandro Torres stated that “we are committed to this important task, for the same reason as Seremi of Sports we make available all our programmatic offerings to strengthen this action plan that seeks to strengthen protective factors, such as sport, to avoid consumption in our boys, girls and young people,” he indicated.

The Seremi of Labor, Miguel Toledo, pointed out that “as Seremi we join this task because we are convinced that prevention must be a relevant issue to strengthen in the workplace. As well as the contribution that we can make from the area to the integration of people who have completed their recovery processes for problematic consumption,” he concluded.

Finally, the rector of the University of Playa Ancha, Carlos González Morales, commented that “this session of the Regional Steering and Technical Committee is very beneficial to enhance and consolidate the drug prevention system. The articulated work between the institutions has made it possible to have an action plan with clear objectives and sectoral measures to address new challenges in the fight against drugs and to us, as a university, it seems tremendously important to be the only university that participates in this instance. .
