The situation of school lunch scholarships is one of the issues that worries the PSOE and about which it will ask the Government of La Rioja during the parliamentary plenary session that will take place this Thursday the 13th. In a non-law proposal presented by the socialists in In March, an increase in the income threshold for access to scholarships and an improvement in the financing percentage were requested. “We know nothing about this proposal,” said Sara Orradre, deputy spokesperson for the PSOE during the press conference held this morning at the party headquarters.

According to the proposal for awarding the school cafeteria service for the next academic year, the prices of the companies that will manage them will be the most expensive in Spain, according to data provided by the Federation of Parents’ Associations of La Rioja (FapaRioja). The price for families has increased “between 56.2% (7.17 euros/day) and 73.2% (7.95 euros/day), compared to what they paid at the beginning of this school year », indicated from the association at the beginning of this month.

The new animal protection and welfare bill is another issue that the PSOE will discuss in plenary. “We will urge the Government of La Rioja to approve a new bill within a maximum period of three months, as promised when it repealed the previous one at the beginning of this Legislature,” Orradre explained.

Industrial development and regional financing

In addition, the socialists will ask the Rioja Executive to approve a 2024-2027 industrial strategy with the aim of “reversing the worrying situation of the decline in the industrial sector and the slowdown in job creation,” said the socialist spokesperson.

Regarding regional financing, Orradre has assured that they will ask about “what the Executive plans to do with the resources from the Government of Spain.” Likewise, he recalled that La Rioja will receive 1,442 million euros from the Government of Spain this year, 256 more than in 2023.

The Socialist Parliamentary Group will also raise issues such as health care in the municipalities this summer or the development of infrastructure in the region to the president of La Rioja, Gonzalo Capellán.

The implementation of the Wallet Cards program or the new water channeling project for Cervera del Río Alhama, which was planned during the last legislature, will be issues that the PSOE will also address during the session.
