In Corrientes they demand the disaffiliation of “Camau” Espínola from the Justicialista Party

The Justicialist Party of the province of Corrientes held a plenary session in the capital city on Wednesday night to repudiate the decision of the former Olympic medalist, mayor and current national senator Carlos “Camau” Espínola to vote in favor of the Bases Law promoted by the government of Javier Milei. In that context, there would be consensus to promote his disaffiliation from the PJ.

According to what was expressed by those in charge of the process of normalizing the district expression of organized Peronism, Espínola should abandon his affiliation due to what is interpreted as treason.

There are many versions that link “Camau”‘s vote in favor of the libertarian ruling party’s ruling with the possibility that the Casa Rosada grants control of the Yacyretá hydroelectric dam to the province of Corrientes.

The complex reports to the Argentine and Paraguayan governments so far, but Milei’s deregulatory plan includes the provincialization of assets like this one. In the same way, they related Edgardo Kueider’s vote to the control by his native Entre Ríos of the Salto Grande dam.

In February 2023, Kueider broke the ruling bloc of the Frente de Todos and formed the Unidad Federal bloc with Espínola and Alejandra Vigo from Córdoba. This January, under the leadership of Victoria Villarruel, he achieved the presidency of the Constitutional Affairs commission, head of the plenary session that debated the Bases law.

Earlier in the session, the senator from Unión por la Patria, Marín Pilatti Vergara (Chaco), made direct reference to the agreements that can be glimpsed behind the Peronist votes.

«I cannot forgive that a senator occupies a seat because he entered with a UxP ticket and votes for this Base Law, which goes against the grain of the objectives for which we Peronists militate and fight all our lives. “I do not forgive and there is no embassy (in relation to Lucila Crexell, from Neuquén, who was appointed ambassador of UNESCO), Yacyretá or Salto Grande that makes me change my convictions,” she said.
