The Minister of Defense of Colombia, Ivan Velasquezinsisted this Wednesday that The Government will not renew the ceasefire with the FARC dissidents in the southwest of the country despite the increase in attacks and violence at the hands of the Central General Staff (emc), whose motivation would be to return to a cessation of hostilities.

Four new coordinated attacks by the emcmajor FARC dissidentagainst the Police this Wednesday left a civilian and two uniformed officers injured in the southwest of the country.

The two most serious attacks occurred in Jamundi (Cauca’s Valley): The first was a motorcycle bomb that exploded in the center of town, which left a civilian and two police officers injuredand the other harassment against a police station in a rural area known as Potrerito.

The third was another attack against a police station in Cajibio (Cauca), that was repelled by the Army and left no dead or wounded; the fourth was a action with drones in El Plateado (Cauca) that left three soldiers injured.

In this sense, the Colombian president, Gustavo Petroindicated in his X account: “With these fronts there is no dialogue or ceasefire. In it Micay canyon in-depth fighting is taking place and that is why they want to dilute the Government’s offensive on this objective with bombs in other places.”

Velásquez emphasized that “ceasefire in the southwest will remain suspended“and announced a reward of up to $100 million for information leading to the capture of those responsible for this Wednesday’s attacks.

The minister also announced a strengthening the offensive against the Emc in this area of ​​the country and new measures, “particularly for Jamundí.

The Colombian Government suspended the ceasefire after the violence against indigenous people and the public force with the most belligerent group of the Emcwhich considers divided in two, commanded by ‘Iván Mordisco’ and that he is no longer at the dialogue table.
