Until next Saturday, June 15, the University of Córdoba hosts the general assembly and IV congress of the Spanish Society of Legal History (SEHD), under the title Legal Historiography in the 21st centurywhere more than 80 legal historians will analyze new perspectives and research techniques in this legal branch.

The congress was inaugurated today by the rector of the University of Córdoba, Manuel Torralbo Rodríguez, who gave an institutional welcome to the participants.s arrivals from all over Spainsince he has praised the generous work of the teaching staff who dedicate part of their research work to generating and transferring knowledge within the associationismas is the case of the Spanish Society of Legal History.

Together with the rector, the president of the Social Council, Francisco Muñoz Usano, has pointed out that the History of Law is the history of societies. “Societies without the Law would be nothing, since it would not have a harmonious, egalitarian, balanced or social development. This reminds us of the work that Law has always done: a civilizing work that responds to conflicts and new social realities.” The opening ceremony was also attended by the former rectors of the UCO Eugenio Domínguez and José Manuel Roldán .

For his part, the president of the Spanish Society of Legal History (SEHD), Manuel Ángel Bermejo Castrillo, outlined the congress program, highlighting the commemorative event of the Centenary of the Yearbook of History of Spanish Law (1924-2024), which has had the participation of the director of the Yearbook, UCO professor Manuel Torres Aguilar; the general secretary of Publications of the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, Isabel Barrio Martín; and the coordinator of the commemorative number, Carlos Petit. During the rest of the sessions, the congressmen will address topics as varied as administrative and jurisdictional legal historiography; the university or the legal historiography of gender, discriminated minorities and subjugated majorities.
