Insecurity continues to have its way and frighten citizens in Bogotá. On the afternoon of this Thursday, June 13, an attempt to ship freight in an exclusive sector of the capital (Carrera 7A between streets 146 and 147) was reported around 2:30 pm through a video on social networks, in where four men aboard two motorcycles opened fire on the people who were present in the surroundings.
What generated the most outrage, according to what can be seen in the video, is that one of the victims tried to chase the criminals and they shot several times before escaping. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The Metropolitan Police of Bogotá assured the magazine Week that said criminals on their respective motorcycles followed a citizen who left an exchange house and, subsequently, stole his money. The first information indicates that it was close to 11 million pesos.
In addition, the police institution indicated that the victim left the Unicentro shopping center with the respective money, this after having been in the exchange house inside the commercial establishment. Until then, everything was developing completely normally.
However, things began to change when the man was intercepted by the criminals while he was apparently traveling in his old silver gray Toyota Prado truck, as can be seen in the video.
In the images, two motorcycles can be seen on a road in front of a residential complex. At that moment everything seems to indicate that the thieves had just taken the victim’s money. Two grillers get on the motorcycles and that’s when two shots are heard. “Thief,” shouts one of the witnesses at the scene.
“The motorcycle thieves doing their thing in Usaquén, Cedritos sector. Criminals were chasing their victims and when they arrived at the building they were approached, the reaction of the community caused the criminals to use firearms,” was the statement of Gerardo Sarmiento, an observer from the town of Usaquén.
At the moment, the Police are working on the case and carrying out the respective investigations to clarify what happened and find those responsible.
