Inspector Juan Sebastián Losada Salazar highlighted the importance of this action, explaining that the illegally occupied area is intended exclusively for passive recreation or ecological research. “This area is excluded from any type of economic activity,” said Losada Salazar.
With the aim of restoring the affected area, the start of a reforestation day was announced. “We began our work to recover the environment and be able to generate that environmental recovery through a sowing. We have already reached an agreement with residents of the sector and the officials of the Ministry of the Environment,” said the Secretary of the Environment, Andrés Felipe Buitrago.
“It is worth mentioning that the offenders had invaded the area for the manufacture of plastic wood, a process in which they carried out actions contrary to the environment, such as accumulating and burning the plastic, which generated significant pollution to the air, the soil and the source. water of the Matamundo ravine,” the authorities said.
