On the night of Thursday, June 13, the death of a Police patrol car was reported in the city of Cali, after hitmen shot six times with firearms.

Hours after the incident became known, the authorities indicated that the uniformed man was attacked by hitmen who mistook him.

This was confirmed by the commander of the Cali Police, Colonel Carlos Oviedo, who reported that the uniformed man was responding to the emergency call of a man who had suffered a hitman attack, when he was intercepted by armed men.

“Our police officer along with his colleagues were responding to the call of an injured person who was traveling in a van, his colleagues took him to a care center while he took the vehicle to the Fray Damián police station for police custody. Minutes later, the hitmen return believing that he was the first victim and attack him several times,” Oviedo said.

The patrolman was identified as Iván Fernando López, who had been in the institution for 12 years and had been transferred to the Metropolitan Police of Valle del Cauca a year ago. López was married and had a nine-year-old son.
