The eight institutional wines chosen after a blind tasting among 151 applicants

The Regulatory Council has also chosen the eight wines that will represent it at its institutional events throughout the current year and part of the next. In total, 151 wines from 48 wineries were submitted to the competition, with a blind tasting methodology to select institutional references. The tasting panel was made up of a mixed committee of experts from the sector: «The eight wines chosen are a sample of the great wine diversity that the region has and are presented with the corporate labels of the Regulatory Council, expressly designed for each one. of the categories”, informs the entity.

As for the winners, in the generic white category, Bodegas Martínez Lacuesta (Haro) won, with a white tempranillo.

In barrel-fermented white wines, the award went to Bodegas Paco García (Haro) for its Blanco Fermentado en Barrica 2022, and also for white tempranillo, which gives an idea of ​​how wineries are finding the point of this native variety, relatively new and unique in the world.

The best generic rosé wine has been that of Bodegas San Esteban (the Murillo de Río Leza cooperative). As for the reds, the first place goes to Bodegas Sance (Baños de Ebro), while the best aging has been selected from Bodegas Marqués de Reinosa (Autol) from the 2021 harvest.

The best reserve wine goes to one of the regulars from almost every year, the red Reserva 2020 from Bodegas Ramírez de la Piscina (San Vicente de la Sonsierra), while the best red Gran Reserva, in this case from the 2016 vintage, has relapsed into Bardinet Wines, from Fuenmayor.

Finally, in the sparkling category, the institutional wine will be Reserva 2019 from Bodegas Bilbaínas (Haro).
