In response to the emergencies caused by floods in the department of Córdoba, the Ministry of Health has coordinated the deployment of medical brigades to provide care to the affected communities. The Secretary of Health of Córdoba, Carlos Andrés Vasco, reported that “we have been strengthening these actions alongside national relief agencies, such as Civil Defense and the Red Cross, to bring medical care to the areas most affected by the floods. ”.
Vasco highlighted the recent health brigade carried out in the municipality of Ayapel, where it was possible to reach the entire rural area that was in a state of flooding. “Together, we managed to provide medical care to the communities that needed it most in this time of crisis,” he said.
In addition to the brigades, the Ministry of Health has joined forces with NGOs to expand care coverage. According to Vasco, “these alliances have allowed us to strengthen our response capacity and reach more people in vulnerable situations.”
The situation in Córdoba is complex due to the heavy rains that have caused rivers to overflow and flood vast areas of the department. Municipalities such as Ayapel, Tierralta and others located in the Sinú River basin are on red alert due to rising waters.
