The Network of Creative Cities and Territories of Spain today held its 13th meeting in Córdoba, where the renewal of its Board of Directors took place. During the Ordinary General Meeting, the deputy mayor delegate for Youth,Cintia Bustosthe new president of the network has been unanimously elected, becoming the first woman to hold this position.

Bustos, who takes over fromRafael Llamas, mayor of Montillawill preside on behalf of the Córdoba City Council from the Youth delegation a new board of directors made up of representatives from other cities. José Carlos Acha, from the Cabildo of Tenerife, will hold the position of first vice president, while Fabela Mohatar from the Autonomous City of Melilla, will have the second vice presidency. For their part, the members will be represented by La Comarca de Cinco Villas, Rubí, Monforte de Lemos, Medina de Rioseco and Gavá.

Creative economy

The Network of Creative Cities and Territories of Spain (Recitcrea) is committed to creative economy as an engine for sustainable development, talent tourism and addressing the demographic challenge. This network is established as a forum of mutual support for the development of creative projects in our country, promoting collaboration between large cities, metropolises, medium and small towns in order to promote structural changes, as well as collaboration strategies that allow the transversality of creativity and innovation, the design of dynamic indicators and the promotion of a culture of proximity.

Recitcrea is made up of large cities from their town halls such as Córdoba, Alcalá de Henares, Segovia, Chiclana de la Frontera, Viladecans, Orihuela or Rubí; through medium-sized cities such as Montilla, Gavà, Monforte de Lemos, Dènia, La Puebla de Cazalla or Brunete; as well as small cities and representatives of the rural world of our country such as Medina del Campo, Mondoñedo, Quinto del Ebro, Villarcayo de la Merindad de Castilla La Vieja or Urriés. The Network, in turn, is also made up of territories such as the Cabildo of Tenerife, the Provincial Council of Lugo, the Provincial Council of Valladolid, the Ribeira Sacra Tourism Consortium or the Las Cinco Villas de Aragón Region; as well as autonomies such as the City of Melilla. In addition, the Creative Spain Association is part of the network as a founding partner and promoter of the network, which occupies its Management and Technical Secretariat.

‘Córdoba Identities’ Project

Córdoba’s connection with the Network began with the presentation of the “Córdoba Identities” project by the Youth Delegation at the last Network meeting. This initiative sparked great interest in the city and positioned Córdoba as the venue for this year’s annual assembly.where the delegation has presented the youth project “Trampa”, one of the most established within the delegation.

The new president of the Network, Cintia Bustos, takes office with pride, and emphasizes “the importance of enriching ourselves through joint work and support for talent”a common project that will not only help export Córdoba creativity, but will also import the perspective and good work of other territories into the city.
