Focused on working together to improve the functioning of health systems and the health care of the population, the Government of Chubut led by Ignacio “Nacho” Torres, through the provincial Health Secretariat, participated in a Patagonian Meeting of Ministers of Health carried out in the city of Neuquén.
The meeting, in which progress was made in the coordination of joint strategies for the region, was attended by the Secretary of Health, Sergio Wisky, representing the province.
In addition, the heads of the health portfolios of the provinces of Neuquén, La Pampa, Río Negro, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego and the South Atlantic Islands were present; and the Secretary of Administrative Coordination of the Ministry of Health of the Nation, Cecilia Loccisano.
Connection points
Regarding the meeting, the Secretary of Health of Chubut, Sergio Wisky, highlighted “the importance of updating ourselves on the difficulties we have and the solutions that each province is finding”, as well as highlighting the importance “of finding those points of union where we can work together, such as high-cost medicines, the distinctive epidemiological characteristics of the region and the digitalization of health, among other aspects.
In this sense, Wisky maintained that these are “central issues for a better functioning of the system, so that people are better cared for throughout the Patagonian region.”
Common agenda
The meeting allowed topics related to the problem of dengue, mental health, human resources, financing lines, infrastructure and equipment to be put on the agenda.
In the first meeting, the formation of technical tables with specific work groups was already planned to address priority topics, share information and evaluate the evolutionary level of each province in those points, and see how to move forward together, even thinking about the purchase of supplies.

Along with Wisky, the Ministers of Health of Neuquén, Martín Regueiro, participated in this Patagonian meeting; from La Pampa, Mario Kohan; from Río Negro, Ana Senesipor; from Santa Cruz, Ariel Varela; and from Tierra del Fuego and South Atlantic Islands, Judit Di Gigliopor.
The undersecretary of the provincial health portfolio, Silvina Mastrángelo, and the technical team also participated.
