The family of a 29-year-old María Sol Goyenechea from Córdoba, murdered in Uruguayana a week ago, asked the authorities of the Argentine Consulate in Brazilhelp to be able to specify the repatriation of the body.

A cyclist found his body last Saturday in an open field located at the entrance to the Mascarenhas de Moraes neighborhood, on the border with Paso de los Libres. Local media said that he showed signs of a brutal beating and had his pants down.
María Sol was 29 years old, she was the mother of an 8-year-old girl and she was part of a family of backpackers. Recently, she was working on Brazil with her boyfriend and was planning to return to Argentina, more precisely in Córdoba, where she lived with her mother. At the time of her murder, she was staying in the Brazilian municipality.
It should be remembered that, in the last few hours, the Police arrested a 37-year-old suspect who has a criminal record and was detained for rape. The detainee refused to testify or provide genetic material.
“The Police say that they have the case solved, that it was a robbery, but there are no arrests. We target his boyfriend because we know that he is a violent person and many of his attitudes seem strange to us,” said Hernán Goyenechea, the victim’s uncle.
“It is said that they tried to rob her, there was a struggle and they killed her. A possible rape of her is also being investigated because she had her pants down,” she said. Furthermore, he assured that they suspect the deceased’s boyfriend, but the authorities did not arrest him because he had no evidence against him.
And, he added when referring to the hours before the crime: “At that moment we know that she was with her boyfriend, but he let her go alone. We find it suspicious that he let her go and he stayed. Furthermore, the Police told us that, after the crime, they saw a person crossing the bridge towards Argentina, who seems to be him. “The situation is very strange.”
Repatriation request
On the other hand, the man who traveled to Uruguayana to say goodbye to the remains of his niece, asked for help to be able to repatriate the body, since he has Paraguayan documentation and they cannot process it. “We are a family of travelers, but we reside in Argentina. “She has a Paraguayan ID because she was born there, but she always lived in Córdoba,” she said.
“We need help from the Consulate to be able to repatriate the body, because we want to bury her in Argentina. Now we are watching over her Brazil because we have no other option. We also ask the Police for collaboration to give us a response, they left us alone,” she concluded.
María Sol Goyenechea was born in Paraguay, but lived her entire life in Córdoba and had an 8-year-old daughter. “We are a family of travelers, but we reside in Argentina. She has a Paraguayan ID because she was born there, but she always lived in Córdoba,” her uncle said.
