Sports Temuco eliminated Osorno Provincial, as a visit to the Rubén Marcos Peralta Stadium, for the regional round of 16 of the Chile Cup. The team from the La Araucanía Region quickly took the lead on the scoreboard after Luciano Vargas’ own goal in the 9th minute and extended the lead in the 11th minute thanks to Franco Cortés’ goal.
The locals managed to pull one back in the 43rd minute with a goal from Bastian Melo. In the second half, Osorno managed to tie the match thanks to a great goal from Miguel Angel Orellanawho took advantage of the pivot of Christian Jelves and with a Chilean he managed to beat Yerko Urra.
With the tie in regulation time, the match was decided on penalties where Deportes Temuco was more effective and managed to win the series 5-4 and thus qualify for the quarterfinals of the Chile Cup where they will have to face the winner of the key between Sports Puerto Montt and Club Alas Portuarias de Aysen.
