San Luis Potosí, SLP.- San Luis Potosí will become the first entity in Mexico to have an International Astronomical Observation Park certified by the United Nations (UN), which will be located in Armadillo de los Infante, which will attract thousands of tourists to this municipality in the Central region.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), Juan Carlos Machinena Morales, said that this project will provide the best tourist-scientific experiences, for which all support is provided to the astrophysics researcher Roberto Bartali Marchetti and members of the “Astronomy Team Rober Soul” so that the astronomical park is consolidated.

He highlighted that one of the greatest challenges to achieve the development of the planned park is to reduce light pollution, since the excess of artificial light hides the natural darkness and “negatively affects the environment, astronomical observation and disturbs biological and human rhythms. And animals”.

He said that to achieve international certification with the endorsement of the UN and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), they will work with the Armadillo city council, which has one of the best skies in Mexico for observation.
