a tragic accident The traffic incident that occurred on Thursday afternoon on the Camino del Buen Ayre left the death of a 28-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Pablo Ariel Santillán. The driver of the vehicle responsible, Carlos Andrés Dip, 45, was arrested and faces charges of “aggravated manslaughter” after it was found that he was driving with 1.97 grams of alcohol in his blood.

The unfortunate event was triggered when the Renault Stepway car, driven by Dip, changed lanes abruptly and collided with a Peugeot Partner. This initial impact caused Dip to lose control of his vehicle, violently hitting the motorcyclist Santillán, who was traveling in the fast lane towards the Panamericana.

The victim was thrown off the motorcycle after the crash, through the guardrail and into the opposite lane, where he was hit by a Toyota Corolla that was unable to stop in time. SAME emergency teams quickly arrived at the scene, but could only confirm Santillán’s death.

The incident was recorded by highway security cameras, whose images are essential for the investigation. On Friday, Carlos Andrés Dip appeared at the Prosecutor’s Office No. 1 of Ituzaingó, where he refused to testify. His defense attorney, Rodrigo Tripolone, announced her intention to resign from defending Dip.

In an attempt to explain what happened, journalist Rolando Barbano reported in Telenight that Dip claimed to have consumed flu medication, which he claimed made him drowsy and caused the accident. However, the high amount of alcohol in the blood contradicts this version.

Prosecutor Marcelo Tavolaro, in charge of the case, requested the preventive detention of the accused and investigated him on the charge of “aggravated manslaughter,” which could lead to up to six years in prison. However, the possibility of charging him with “simple homicide with possible intent” is also being evaluated, a legal figure applicable when a person, aware of the mortal risk of his behavior, does nothing to avoid it. This charge carries a sentence of between 8 and 25 years in prison.

For its part, the government of the province of Buenos Aires suspended the driver’s license of Carlos Dip, who will remain detained at the 2nd Police Station of Ituzaingó while the judicial process progresses.
