Las Tunas.- At the end of May, in the province of Las Tunas there were still non-compliance in the contracting of milk, beef and various crops, which has an impact on the guarantee of these foods to satisfy the demands of residents in the territory.

According to statistical information from the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture, of a total of 22,058 tenants, some 16,326 had been hired, which represents 74 percent and marks the greatest delays in the municipalities of Puerto Padre, Majibacoa and Jobabo.

In the case of various crops, everything planned has already been contracted and now it is necessary to demand that, month by month, the commitments are honored and violations in the under-declaration of productions and the diversion of crops to other destinations are avoided.

A more complex situation shows the contracting of beef, since of a plan of 5,263 tons, only 4,074 were agreed upon. The territories with the worst performance are Puerto Padre, Majibacoa and Manatí.

Regarding milk, the lowest results in the agreements between the Dairy Industry and producers are in the municipalities of Manatí and Jobabo. In general, in the first five months of the year, 22 million 024 thousand 253 liters were agreed.

In various analyzes on the subject, specialists have assured that in the province of Las Tunas there is potential to contract more meat, milk, various crops and other items, one of the main steps to achieve food sovereignty that Cuba maintains as a goal.
