The increase in violent actions in the municipality of Ocaña and its access roads has led to the request of a regional Security Council to seek protection on the roads to the interior of the country.

In the last week, four homicides were reported in the road corridors that connect the Catatumbo region with the department of Cesar, which has overshadowed the work against crime that has been taking place in the province.

“We are ready and we have already spoken with the governor, so that we can create a joint Security Council with the Government of Cesar. There are corridors and competition issues that require greater articulation, for example the Río de Oro-El Carmen-Guamalito corridor, we have a district in that sector that is Otaré, there have been some incidents of vehicle theft and some more violent ones such as Those who showed up a few days ago in that same corridor, we have also had some difficulties in the corridor towards Convention, which is a route to Catatumbo,” Emiro Cañizares, mayor of Ocaña, told Caracol Radio.

It is expected that with these meetings and the support of the National Government, a new strengthening can be given to the public force in the different territories.

“We are in this articulation work, soon we will have that joint Security Council between Norte de Santander, Santander and Cesar, and the joint action of the Police and Army so that there is better coordination between the different Police specialties and the battalions that are in charge of these territories” concluded the president.
