Long live the Bambuco Festival, but safely and in peace • La Nación

The official opening of our Bambuco festivities took place in San Juan and San Pedro, with some sound deficiencies in the central gala, but in general the initiation act was adorned by excellent choreographies, dances, the striking rajaleñas of Mayor Germán Casagua , the heartfelt words of Governor Rodrigo Villalba, the beauty of the numerous candidates, our typical San Juan Huilense dance and a considerable waste of folklore.

This week, we had as an appetizer the “Heirs of Tradition” contest that shows us the level of talent of the youth and of that seedbed that has been eagerly asking for space in the representation of our traditions. Then comes a series of massive events, with parades and contests such as: Señorita Neiva, Señorita Popular, musical and rajaleñas meetings, craft and gastronomic fairs, chivas parade, the departmental and national reign of the San Juan Huilense, among many other events. further…

Hence, the challenge of carrying out our festivities, which are the department’s window to the country and the entire world. We hope that the joint work of the municipal Culture Secretariat will have the best coordination with Corposanpedro and with departmental culture, leaving behind those historical discrepancies, which have been seen as independent republics due to contracting. The allies of the Mixed Culture Fund know very well what I mean.

However, there are two aspects that cause us concern: The state of the road network and the insecurity of Neiva. At the outset, I must highlight the commitment of the municipal government to the intense work in this context of the festivities, covering the gaps in time against the clock, at least in the main road arteries, with a view to providing a better appearance of the streets for their own and visitors. The other concern is insecurity, which I consider to be the main threat to our festivities.

The Mayor of Neiva will have to demand many more results in intelligence and operation from the Metropolitan Police Commander Alexander Castillo, with a view to avoiding at all costs the worrying terrorist waves, personal injuries, mitigating the incessant theft from homes, theft the street crime in the form of “tickle” or “raponazo”, the theft of motorcycles, the theft of automotive parts and the suffocating extortion that eats away at Neivan commerce.

This coming Saturday, June 22, in the Neiva Council, we will hold a control debate on insecurity within the framework of our festivities, where we have asked the head of the police, what will be this comprehensive operational contingent plan at this time? so special, in front of large congregations, concerts and events with large influx of public? with the aim of preventing and not having to regret.

The people of Neiva, the people of Huila, the visitors and foreigners, want to experience the holidays with great grandeur, but safely and in peace.
