Within the framework of the “Colón Path to Accessibility” Program, students from the City’s School of Technical Education (EET) No. 1 Doctor Herminio Juan Quirós make accessible benches so that people who move in wheelchairs can also enjoy company in public places.

The activity is within the framework of the municipal program Colón Road to Accessibility. “The kids are proud to be part of this program that gives equality to many people with disabilities of all ages, perhaps to a family member or even a classmate,” said teacher Jose Luis Buriano, from the 5th year Blacksmith workshop. Higher Cycle of Professional Technical Education.

He added that as a teacher he feels satisfied to see and show the students that what is taught in the classrooms and workshops “is materialized in a work that benefits the community. Furthermore, the kids see that education and work are two lines that go hand in hand to make dreams come true,” he remarked.

The program has been developing for a few years. Benches have already been placed in the play spaces of the Artigas, San Martín and Malvinas Argentinas squares; the Stella Maris roundabout, the port of Colón, Quirós park, and the bus terminal.
