A platoon of Marine Corps (CIM) of the Chilean Navy will be present at the international naval exercise Rim of the Pacific (Rimpac) 2024 which will be carried out by the United States Navy between June 26 and August 2 in Hawaii.
This exercise, the largest in the world, has been carried out since 1971 and tests the abilities of participants to operate in a combined manner, improve their combat capabilities and increase interoperability to confront various threats to regional stability. Chile joined Rimpac in 1996 and has participated 12 times.
Its new edition, whose motto is Integrated and Prepared Partners, will have 40 ships and three submarines, more than 150 aircraft and 25,000 troops from 29 countries around the world. The Chilean Navy will also be present with the anti-submarine frigate Type 23 FF-06 Almirante Condell and an attack helicopter Airbus AS332F1 Cougar of the HA-1 Squadron of the Naval Aviation.
Cooperation and friendship
The Soldiers of the Chilean Sea will develop in Rimpac 2024 a first phase called Force Integration Training which consists of a series of training activities aimed at allowing troops from different countries to get to know each other, generate ties of friendship and achieve the level of interoperability necessary to execute the tactical phase.
During this period, they will practice exercises that allow them to standardize knowledge such as insertion of units through rubber boats and aircraft, entry and search of buildings, weapons practices and first aid, among others, to facilitate the development of the different missions in the area. of operations.
It should be noted that in the 2022 edition of Rimpacthe Marine Corps of the Chilean Navy interacted with personnel from Australia, the United States, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, the Republic of Korea and Tonga with the purpose of improving operational capabilities and promoting cooperation and friendship between the participating forces.
