The recent rains that occurred since the early hours of this Thursday, June 20, have generated serious problems for the inhabitants of the San Miguelito neighborhoodparticularly in the streets May 5th, Pedro Vallejo, Fernando Rosas and Xicotencatl.

The rainfall has caused puddles and flooding, which forced the Secretariat of Urban Development, Housing and Public Works (Seduvop) to indefinitely suspend works in the area, according to what was reported by neighbors.

Residents noted that ditches opened for inspection of the hydraulic network are now flooded, posing a significant risk to the safety and integrity of infrastructure.

Given the inclement weather and the rainfall predicted for the coming days, concern among residents is increasing, as they fear that the situation will worsen even more.

An example of the problem is experienced on 5 de Mayo Street, at the height of the pedestrian street General Jurisdictionwhere residents have been forced to take shelter in their homes due to the impossibility of going out.

The absence of sidewalks, added to the sand and gravel from the construction, has transformed the street into a quagmire, preventing free mobility and access.

In addition, residents denounced the lack of adequate ramps by Seduvop. Although some ramps have been placed at street intersections, many homes that lack sidewalks face deep flooding, which makes mobility even more difficult for neighbors.

The ongoing works, which originally sought to improve the neighborhood’s infrastructure, are a source of concern and complications for residents.

Neighbors urge authorities to implement quick and effective solutions to mitigate the effects of the rains and guarantee security and mobility in the area.

“The current situation in the San Miguelito neighborhood highlights the need for more efficient urban planning and preventive measures that can effectively address the challenges that arise in adverse weather conditions. The community is tired of this and hopes that the authorities respond promptly and effectively to resolve the current problems,” said an affected neighbor.
