The government of Santiago de Cuba implemented measures this Saturday in a central Trocha street in the city, closing private businesses and deploying police, in order to prevent possible acts of violence.

“This Saturday The government of Santiago de Cuba met with restaurant and cafe owners which are located on the famous Trocha street and which have remained closed for days by government decision,” explained Mayeta.

However, he clarified that, although the regime has not yet made the reopening of businesses official, this Saturday night “has deployed dozens of police officers stationed at the Red Devil Monument”.

Although several people informed him that the officers patrolled the entire avenue “to try to give the appearance of security,” neighbors also commented that the “tension” in the atmosphere was palpable.

The police deployment took place exactly one week after that a violent fight occurred on Trocha Street during a street partyin which two people were injured, one of them fatally.

Dozens of people lamented the incident, which has been happening too frequently in the city, and where its protagonists are usually very young.

Recently, a young man was murdered at a party in Holguínin another fact that adds to the unstoppable wave of violence that is plaguing the country.

It happened during a recreational activity in the social circle of the Monte Feria neighborhood, in the Antilla municipality.
