CÓRDOBA, June 25. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Deputy Mayor for Economy and Finance of the Córdoba City Council, Blanca Torrent, reported this Tuesday of the granting of the first distinctions of historic taverns to 12 establishments in the capital, after “a careful review and evaluation of the documentation” on “its roots in Córdoba”, and as a proposal from the commission to this effect.

In a press conference, the councilor highlighted that they are taverns with “great significance in the history of the city”, based on “writings, magazines and even newspaper clippings of great antiquity”, specifying that “some of these documents even “They tell curious stories, from the famous wine sales to news that occurred in these taverns, such as fights or robberies.”

In this sense, he has valued the work carried out by the commission, made up of the delegations of Market and Commerce, Festivals and Traditions, Tourism, the Gastronomy Consortium, the Gastronomy Chair, the collaboration of the Municipal Institute of Economic Development and Employment (Imdeec ), and the technicians of the Delegation of Economy and Employment, as well as the work of the Municipal Archive for research.

Specifically, the taverns of this edition are Bodegas Campos, Taberna Regina, Taberna El Pisto, the Society of Silversmiths Taberna Séneca, the Society of Silversmiths El Abuelo, the Society of Silversmiths María Auxiliadora, the Society of Silversmiths San Francisco, Casa Pepe de la Jewish Quarter, Casa Rubio, Santa Marina Tavern, Fuenseca Tavern and Salinas Tavern.

To obtain the Historical Tavern distinction, in addition to being open continuously for more than 75 years, the taverns have had to demonstrate a commitment to typical Córdoba gastronomy in their menu; be relevant establishments of traditional culture and history of Córdoba in material, artistic, economic and social aspects, and have elements of historical value in their furniture or decoration.

In this regard, the taverns that receive the distinction will benefit from support and promotion measures to help their development and visibility and the call is open to applications, while indicating that the objective is to create a route of historical taverns that “is always alive and constantly growing, welcoming new establishments as they meet the requirements.

Given “the expectation generated” and with the objective of “supporting and recognizing the activity of all those taverns that have not achieved this mention in recent years, but that “are on the way to doing so”, the commission has proposed a study of a new program of Cordoba taverns that “show their authenticity”, the councilor ensuring that “these initiatives will not only strengthen the cultural identity, but will also provide Córdoba with another tourist attraction.”
