“People get excited when they see the reactions of animals that are adopted.” With these words, the director of the Mancilla Adoption Center, Pablo Díaz, told The Tribune about the importance of having “a faithful friend” for life, the 78 who have already gone to a home and more than 40 waiting for a family.

As head of the Adoption Center dependent on the Municipality of Salta, the veterinarian has already completed six months of management and was satisfied with the work done, although the entire team continues with a difficult job of containing and being the link between the animals and their responsible futures.

Pablo Díaz, the professional responsible for the Mancilla Adoption Center.

“We are very happy in these first six months, we have many puppies up for adoption and another 78 that have already been put up for adoption. There are puppies, adults and geronts. The latter are puppies over seven years old and the ones that are most difficult to put up for adoption.
They are all clinically healthy, with their neuters, dewormings and vaccines up to date.” In this regard, he explained that there are “40 dogs for adoption and 10 more dogs in recovery for future adoption.”

The volunteer walk is essential

The animals at the Adoption Centre are not just waiting to be adopted. Every day they wait for a volunteer to come and walk them, and this role is considered “fundamental” for the professionals.

Volunteers who go out for a walk with the dogs.

“People think that the only way to help us is to adopt, but many times they do not have more space in their house to adopt. However, another way they have to help is to voluntarily go for a walk. We have leashes for everyone and an area of recreation, a closed area to walk a pet and be there, have some mates, sign up as a volunteer. It is very helpful to us.

Those who wish to adopt, “sponsor” or simply walk one of the animals can go directly to the Mancilla Adoption Center “from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The address is Gato y Macha S/N behind Villa Palacios. The team The Adoption Center has veterinarians, operators and a trainer. People walk around the property and choose the pet they like. We tell them the requirements and tell them which dogs get along well with others or with kittens, also for cats. “That the space is taken into account and the requirement is a photocopy of ID, a photocopy of a service ticket and we make you sign a commitment document to follow up on the animal, which is a visit to see and corroborate that the animal is well.” .

Those who have ever adopted an animal know that integrating a pet into a family is one of the most kind acts, but also that the happiness generated is reciprocal between the adopted animal and the adopter. “People have to know that adopting is not only taking the animal with you, but also a faithful friend for life. They don’t know how gratifying that situation is. People get excited when they see the reaction of the animal when it is about to be adopted or leaves We also see it when we go to do the environmental test and we see that they have a different face. It changes their lives and in turn, the puppies often bring back your joy,” said Díaz.

Talks about responsible care

The veterinarian responsible for the Mancilla Adoption Center said that among the activities they incorporated were talks for the public and private. “We started doing them a few months ago and they are about responsible care, the importance of vaccination, deworming and castration. We are giving this talk at the Adoption Center itself or in the establishments that ask us to go. They can be private establishments or public. We ask the directors to come to the Adoption Center to schedule an appointment and coordinate whether they come or we go.

For example, on Thursday the 27th at 9:30, students from school 5076 Dr. Arturo Illia and EET3101 Joaquín Castellanos will go. There will be approximately 60 students.

“There will be a talk on responsible care and adoption, guided walks with the animals from the Adoption Center and a snack will be given to the students.”

There are dogs of different ages, including older ones.

Shopping is now pet friendly

Weeks ago, Alto NOA shopping carried out an initiative together with the Municipality of Salta to make the shopping center “pet friendly”. “It’s a very nice move. Every month an adoption day is held at the shopping center and this Saturday, June 29, from 6 to 9 p.m., we are going to take the puppies from the Mancilla Adoption Center, as well as vaccination and deworming in free of charge, so everyone is invited,” he concluded.
