The heavy rainfall that has occurred in Antioquia during the last few hours caused several emergencies throughout the department, especially in the municipalities of Venecia and Abriaquí.

In the municipality of Abriaquí, located in the subregion of Western Antioquia, the most recent balance showed three people died in rural areasincluding two minors and an adult.

The bodies of the victims, who were buried by a landslide, were recovered around 2:00 a.m. this Wednesday.

Likewise, according to the Mayor’s Office of that municipality, there is concern about a series of mass movements that have cut off the urban area, especially with roads such as the one leading to the municipality of Frontino.

On the Venice side, located in the subregion of Southwest Antioquia, the main impact came from an avalanche that occurred in the Obrero neighborhood, which left a balance of two people missing.

The Fire Department of that municipality issued an alert due to several landslides that have cut off several of the affected areas, so support was requested with yellow machinery to rehabilitate the passage.

“We have collapsed roads and several victims. We are requesting the greatest possible support from all organizations and relief agencies in the area, because The municipality does not have access roads to these paths. Only entry would be via Bolombolo”, reported Second Lieutenant Duvan Bermúdez, commander of the Venice Fire Department.
