The traditional ceremony of burning dolls and artistic expressions will take place this Friday from 4 p.m. in the Plaza del Fogón.

The Higher Institute of Art and Communication (ISAC) is preparing to celebrate the XVII Edition of the ISAC Fogón, in commemoration of the Feast of San Juan. This event, which is a tradition of the institute, will take place this Friday the 28th at the Plaza del Fogón, located at 1164 San Martín street, starting at 4:00 p.m.

The long-awaited Fogón del ISAC will be experienced this year as an artistic exhibition that includes dance, theater, music and the emblematic dolls, the result of the collaborative work of students from all majors. This event, which is a true celebration for the ISAC educational community and its neighbors, has become a fundamental part of the institute’s identity. It is the occasion in which the ISAC opens its doors so that society can enjoy a varied program related to the different careers taught there.

The activities will begin at 4:00 p.m. with an open radio show by students of the Producer and Director for radio and TV program. Between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., the Theater students will present the Traveling Exhibition in the backyards of the institute, in the space known as El Costurero and in the basement of the institution. Students from the theater and dance majors at IES Sebastián Corpacci and a children’s and youth orchestra will also participate.

Starting at 6 p.m., the lineup of artists will begin on the main stages, with musical and dance groups, made up of students from ISAC’s Music and Dance faculty. The start of the fire is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., with the participation of the dolls that after being presented will be burned for the enjoyment of the public.

In addition to the artistic presentations, there will be a fair that will include art and gastronomy, offering a variety of products for attendees, led by students from the Cultural Property Technique.

The ISAC Fire Pit is held in commemoration of Saint John and is a tradition inherited from our ancestors, who lit fires in the fields so that they would be protected by the Saint. It was believed that by burning dolls that represented negative or old things, the fire would consume everything bad so that it would not come back to torment us. This tradition has been adopted and adapted by our community, becoming an integral part of our identity, the result of the effort and joint work of the entire ISAC community.
