CÓRDOBA, June 26. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Coinciding with the International Day to Fight Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Proyecto Hombre Córdoba presented its 2023 report this Wednesday, a year in which the entity has served a total of 3,876 people in Córdoba and the province.

This has been indicated by Proyecto Hombre in a note in which it has detailed that the delegate of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality of the Board, Dolores Sánchez, participated in the presentation event; the manager of the Provincial Institute of Social Welfare, Berta Aparicio; the delegate of Social and Senior Services of the Córdoba City Council, Eva Contador, and the director-president of Proyecto Hombre Córdoba and province, Jesús Tamayo.

In this context, it has become clear that, in 2023, Proyecto Hombre Córdoba has consolidated lines of work from previous years, adapting to new collective realities and maintaining attention to individual needs. It has reinforced work with women, penitentiary programs, attention to homelessness and rural presence, considering that 64.16 percent of the people served in 2023 corresponded to the province of Córdoba. Thus, there have been a total of 3,876 services to men and women in the province: 1,355 in treatment, 2,521 in prevention programs.

Psychocultural barriers and general ignorance of the specific needs that women require in therapeutic treatments have manifested the need for progress and work in this field. For this reason, during 2023, specific lines of work on violence and different types of aggression have been intensified, both in residential and outpatient resources.

Mixed coexistence has also been achieved in the intra-penitentiary community thanks to the joint work with the Penitentiary Institutions team of Córdoba. As “notable are the achievements in transversal resources of self-esteem, empowerment and self-affirmation, as well as the evolution that has been carried out in the Therapeutic Community of women, with a growth of between four and six percent more compared to previous years.”

PENITENTIARY PROGRAMS

Another of the objectives of Proyecto Hombre Córdoba has been to revitalize the Intrapenitentiary Community, not only in the number of services, but also with specific projects: such as the transformation of the Proyecto Hombre therapeutic module for men into a mixed addiction care module, specific intervention in the women’s module and attention to the general demand existing in the rest of the modules of the Córdoba Penitentiary Center.

On the other hand, the need to respond to people who lack economic and family resources began to receive a response in 2021 with the opening of the day center for homeless people. In 2023 and thanks to the promotion of the Next Generation funds, the agreement with the City Council of Córdoba to care for people in situations of social exclusion and lack of protection (40,000 euros), a response has been given to these people also during the nights in weather alerts due to cold with a total of 211 users.

It is a comprehensive intervention system from the provincial network that seeks to eradicate homelessness and develop lines of action for this group in mental health, immigration and addictions.

RURAL PRESENCE

Regarding rural presence, Proyecto Hombre Córdoba has continued its presence in Bujalance, Cañete de las Torres, La Rambla, Cabra, Nueva Carteya and Hinojosa del Duque y Montoro with the support of the different public and private social agents in the province .

Promoting social change to respond to the needs in addictive behaviors in the province has been one of the objectives set by the association in 2023 and which has counted on the generosity, solidarity and concern to add to the group of all citizens, remaining evident in initiatives whose results have been reflected in the general data.

The pandemic conditioned the progression of growth, paralyzing projects and paralyzing rural mobility and the gathering of large groups. Despite this, in the years of recovery Proyecto Hombre Córdoba has managed to facilitate outreach to the population with difficulties due to geographical distance. A 2023 that goes hand in hand with 2024 with new projects such as the care center that will be inaugurated in Hinojosa del Duque, the improvements in outpatient devices that will reduce treatment times, and others in matters of gender violence, and that will have visibility in the next months.
